New Cell Phone, Smartwatch, Earbud Policy on Campus Starting 2024-25
- Cell Phones - Powered off and put away in lockers or backpacks from 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM for all High School students in all areas of the campus. Cell phones should never be used for electronic payment.
- Earbuds / Headphones - Powered off and put away in lockers or backpacks from 8:30 AM to 3:15PM for all High School students in all areas of the campus.
- Smartwatches – Should only be utilized as a watch and all notifications/media use should be switched off. If smart watches are disruptive, they may be confiscated. Smartwatches may be used for electronic payments.
In addition to a more robust and focused learning, we believe that removing personal devices during school hours will cultivate an environment that enhances relationships. We want the members of our community — students and staff alike — to be less tied to their devices and more invested in deep relationships built on the recognition and understanding that each of us is an image bearer of God.
The proliferation of personal devices within our student body has led to immense distraction throughout each school day. We want to take the burden of fighting distraction off our teachers as much as possible, and we also want to remove temptation from our students. Removing phones and other devices will clear space that will be filled with more robust and focused learning.
