Why are intramurals not offered in spring?

Spring is our busiest athletic season, and field space is limited due to high school and middle school use. Students interested in intramurals should participate in fall or winter.

When are practices and games?

  • Practices are typically held 2–3 days a week from 3:00–4:00 PM.
  • Most teams play one game per week, though some may have two.
  • Practices/games are rarely scheduled on Fridays.
  • Schedules are coach-dependent and can vary weekly. Coaches will send updates, and the schedule is always available on AXIS.

What league does OCMS compete in?

Grades 6–8: Delphic League (Middle School) Grade 5: Tri-Valley League (Elementary)

Is participation required every season?

No. Students are encouraged but not required to join a sport each season. Participating in at least one season fulfills the PE credit requirement for the academic year. Multiple seasons still count as a single PE credit.

Can my child earn PE credit for outside/club sports?

No. Only participation in Oaks Christian athletics qualifies for PE credit.

Sign-Ups

How do I sign up my child for sports?

Signups appear as a banner in the Parent AXIS account. Only one parent needs to complete the form.

When do sign-ups open?

  • Fall: Early August (1–2 weeks before school starts)
  • Winter: October
  • Spring: January

Sign-ups remain open for 2–2.5 weeks. Email reminders are sent via AXIS.

What if my child doesn’t want to play a sport?

You can decline the form, which removes the signup banner. If you accidentally decline, email us and we’ll resend it. If you need to change your selection, just email us to update the form.

What if we miss the sign-up window?

Email MS Athletics as soon as possible. If tryouts have already concluded, your child will not be able to participate in that season.

Tryouts

What is the tryout process?

  • Coaches evaluate student-athletes over several days using drills and skill assessments.
  • Tryouts usually last 3–4 days per week for 1–2 weeks.
  • Attendance at all tryout sessions is strongly encouraged.
  • Parents will be notified via email whether their child made the team. Some coaches may also give in-person feedback.

When are tryouts held?

Tryouts typically begin the week after sign-ups close. Details are sent to parents of registered students.

Jerseys & Equipment

Do students keep their jerseys?

No. Jerseys must be returned at the end of the season. Students with unreturned jerseys will be ineligible for future seasons.

8th graders must return all jerseys to receive their diploma or pay a $150 replacement fee (check payable to Oaks Christian School).

Do we need to purchase equipment?

  • Students should use their own equipment when possible.
  • Sports such as Tackle Football and Lacrosse may provide gear.
  • Details about required equipment are shared after each signup period.
